"כְּאַיָּל תַּעֲרֹג"
A note to myself and others:
Ela Merom
What matters?
Looking people in the eye.
Notice. Maybe someone is sad.
Maybe you could do something. It is simple.
One kind word might be enough
What matters?
Saying what you mean,
Meaning what you say
Empty words make for empty souls (even on email)
What matters?
Asking every day
What matters?
Silence between words
Faces, not computer screens
What matters?
Deep sensation
Touching reality without gloves
Not hiding
Not going to sleep
What matters?
Joy
Playfulness
Are you happy?
What matters?
Who you are
Not
What you are
*Reminder…
No title
No resume
No degree (even from an "Ivy league" school)
Goes with you beyond this life
Nor does it matter just before it ends.
But
Were you able to love?
Did you breathe-in the world?
What came first?
Accomplishments or people
Being productive or being present
What matters?
What you won't regret
Not regretting
What will be engrained in you
Growing, changing, evolving (all the time)
Not closing your heart (even when it really wants to shut down)
Breaking barriers (inner and outer)
Being true to yourself (Listen, take deep breath, it might be really different than "fitting in", fulfilling someone else's dreams, being appropriate, being professional, being noticed, being "successful"- what does that mean anyway? Successful in what?)
What matters?
Leaving breathing room
Being honest, this is an over used word…
So LISTEN again
Honest
What matters?
Breaking from habit
Staying curious
Not having all the answers
Not even trying to have all the answers
This is the spaciousness called מרחב יה
What matters?
If you wont ask this (everyday, every hour, every second, every breath)
No one
can
ask
it
for
you
